Doug is principal-in-charge of Parente Randolph’s Senior Living Services Consulting Group. He has over 25 years experience in providing a wide variety of health care and real estate consulting services. His experience includes the areas of market demand and financial feasibility studies, capital financing, third-party reimbursement, development services, merger and acquisition, strategic planning and operational reviews. His industry knowledge includes all facets of the health care industry including hospitals, rehab hospitals, critical access hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health agencies, continuing care retirement communities, and LTAC’s. He has an extensive background in the planning, development, operation, and financing of long-term care/assisted living/retirement housing projects.
Doug’s experience includes:
- Participation in/supervision of over 400 financial planning and project evaluation assignments for a variety of health care clients including proprietary, nonprofit, and governmental owned and operated.
- Participation in/supervision of financial feasibility studies for various health care providers for inclusion in over $3 billion of tax-exempt bond offerings.
- Participation in/supervision of the transaction facilitation (due diligence and other related services) process of over 30 entities for over $3 billion of merger and acquisition transactions.
- Participation in/supervision of strategic planning, market analysis and market research projects for various health care projects.
- Consultation with various long-term care clients (CCRC and life care) on State Insurance Department CCRC regulations and reporting and Certificate of Need issues; participation in the analysis and evaluation of CCRC contracts.
- Participation in/supervision of the development process for expansion and the development of new facilities for a large number of multi-facility proprietary and not-for-profit health care organizations.
- Participation in/supervision of the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports of hospitals, nursing homes, CORFs, ICF/MR facilities and home health agencies. Representation of clients before the Board of Claims and the Office of Hearings and Appeals as expert witness in various third-party appeal issues.
Doug was with KPMG LLP for 22 years where he was National Partner in Charge of the Senior Living Services Practice.
Education
Doug received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Bloomsburg University and graduated magna cum laude.
